concrete health and safety

Concrete is a cement based product and, as a result, can cause serious skin problems including dermatitis and burns.

You must therefore be very conscious of safety if you are handling or coming into contact with the ready mixed concrete in any way. You will need to wear long sleeved clothing and full length trousers, with boots that are high enough to prevent concrete flowing over the top if you are to stand in the concrete. Alkali resistant gloves will be required, as well as safety glasses.

If the skin is exposed to the concrete then you should wash it off as soon as possible. Medical attention will be necessary if concrete gets into your eyes. Concrete is very heavy and care should be taken when lifting.
